Peru – Day 2 (Macchu Pikachu!)

P1060907

I loved our hostel! hahaha. The shower was freezing cold.

I was so excited! Everything worked out perfectly! I could not wait until we actually got there! We were a little stressed out because we weren’t sure if we were going to be able to get tickets. But as Lily would say, “You have to have faith!”

I totally thought we wouldn’t be able to get tickets.

The train ride to Aguas Calientes was awesome. There were spectacular views of the river and people farming, plus they served us a meal!

We decided to hike the trail! Whoever made that decision was a genius! It was awesome!

The only other people we met on the trail were all hiking down after taking the bus up. We were the only ones who did it in reverse. I think Clark thought we needed the exercise. Genius, pure genius. It took us several hours.

P1060927

I love orange gatorade!

P1060930

The Incans really were geniuses. So you know how Machu Picchu has all those different levels? Well there are some super cool stairs that are just made out of rocks sticking out. They also had them for the hike up so we sat on these ones for a picture!

P1060939

There was a lady and her kid at about the half way point selling water and sodas. We stopped and rested a bit before continuing on.

P1060941

We made it! And it is more impressive than I could even imagine!

P1060942

Taiwan represent!!!

P1060947

Dad, Stew, and now I have all stood here! How rad is that!? Let’s get Sarah, Mom, and Kendall down here!

P1060950

I love my hat! fuh fuh fuh fuh.

P1060951

Ray carried my Tilley hat with him around the world this year. Until Peru he never wanted to wear it. Since I also wanted to wear it he had to buy a local version of the hat. Don;t we look great?

What a killer summer!

It is really hard to keep these two on the ground.

The Incan Bridge was amazing. They obviously had zero fear of heights.

Vanessa volunteered to stay with our bags while we hustled over to see the Incan Bridge. When we got back this is how we found her so of course we had to have a little fun with her.

P1070027

Clark and Ray were standing next  to a steep drop off. I expressed some concern so of course they had to mock as if they were really nervous. “ We are so scared. Fuh,Fuh Fuh.”

We heard that LLamas will spit on you if you get too close. I kind of doubt if it is true, because Ray gave this llama the perfect opportunity.

My dad did it too!

This was the clock rock. Apparently the Incans could tell the time by this rock. Can you tell what time it is? Hint: count my fingers.

P1070058

P1070060

This rock is the center of the world. There’s an energy that comes off of it…I think that’s why the photo is blurry.

The rocks are so tightly fit together they say you can’t fit a needle between them.  Really very impressive.

P1070070

It was 5pm. Closing time and we just got our tickets for the bus ride home.

We discussed maybe not adding any text at all to this blog posting since the beauty of Machu Picchu is so amazing. Words can’t describe it. Even photos don’t do it justice. You have to see it in person. I am so grateful for the opportunity we had.
